Founded in 1979, as a grassroots community initiative, Antur Teifi now promotes economic and social development throughout Ceredigion and beyond.

Antur Teifi is a third sector company, bridging the gap between the public and private sectors, and its activities are guided by high quality standards, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14000 and Investors in People.

Surpluses are ploughed back into the area and the volunteer management board and professional staff are accountable to shareholders and community representatives.

The company has continued to grow and the activities are centred around business services, rural regeneration, human resource development and commercial services. These are the cornerstones that support the company mission - "Promoting Prosperity".

The establishment, development and growth of small and medium sized businesses in West Wales is essential to the overall health of the local economy. Through partnership with the public, private and voluntary sectors the mission is to continue to develop Antur Teifi as a company that pioneers innovative and quality businesses, projects and activities that bring long term, sustainable benefits to the area.

The concept behind People+ developed gradually over many years. Through its work over the last few years Antur Teifi noticed that a large bank of latent skills exists that are either underused or unused. The individuals with these skills include the underemployed, homemakers, women and young people as well as the longer term unemployed.

Many of these people have skills they would be willing to use but are restricted for a variety of limiting factors such as availability of childcare or transport, skills level, computer proficiency or disability. It was identified that a system was needed where potential jobs can be sourced. Similarly, there are many individuals and businesses that have occasional, part-time or seasonal job opportunities but find it difficult to source available labour. There was a need for a system that could capture all of this information and match suitable local people with local jobs, hence the development of the People+ system.

The core aim is to provide training, skills enhancement and a computer based system through which income earning opportunities can be realised. The objective is to use computer based technology in rural communities as a means of seeking real employment opportunities and raising the awareness of the benefits that technology can provide to those who would not normally be associated with this technology.

People+ is based on the principle of starting with what people have and building on what they know. It has the potential to enable members of farming families and other members of the broader rural community to identify their own capacity to increase income in a sound and sustainable manner.

Antur Teifi remains close to the community and is sensitive to its needs. Ensuring the local delivery of projects means the company continues to make a positive contribution to the social development of the region.

About Our Partners

This initiative is delivered in partnership with Meath LEADER, an Irish development agency, founded in 1994. Meath LEADER as an organisation has always been dedicated to rural development in County Meath but the organisation will survive and prosper only in so far as it accurately identifies its customer needs and mobilises its resources to serve these customers productively. With this in mind, the board and staff of Meath LEADER continually look for new and innovative ways to improve the circumstances of the communities of the county.

Sefydlwyd Antur Teifi ym 1979 fel menter gymunedol ac erbyn hyn mae'n hyrwyddo datblygiad economaidd a chymdeithasol ledled Ceredigion a thu hwnt.

Cwmni trydydd sector yw Antur Teifi. Mae'n pontio'r bwlch rhwng y sector cyhoeddus a'r sector preifat ac mae'n gweithredu i safonau ansawdd uchel, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14000 a Buddsoddwyr mewn Pobl.

Mae unrhyw elw yn cael ei fuddsoddi yn yr ardal ac mae'r bwrdd rheoli gwirfoddol a'r staff proffesiynol yn atebol i gyfranddalwyr y cwmni a chynrychiolwyr cymunedol.

Mae'r cwmni wedi parhau i dyfu ac mae'r gwaith yn canolbwyntio ar wasanaethau busnes, adfywio gwledig, datblygu adnoddau dynol a gwasanaethau masnachol. Y rhain yw'r conglfeini sy'n hyrwyddo cenhadaeth y cwmni - "Hybu Ffyniant".

Er mwyn i'r economi lleol ffynnu, mae'n hanfodol bod busnesau bach a chanolig eu maint yn cael eu sefydlu ac yn datblygu a thyfu yng Ngorllewin Cymru. Trwy bartneriaeth â'r sectorau cyhoeddus, preifat a gwirfoddol, y nod yw parhau i ddatblygu Antur Teifi fel cwmni sy'n arloesi gyda busnesau, prosiectau a gweithgareddau blaengar, da, a ddaw â manteision cynaliadwy, hirdymor i'r ardal.

Datblygodd y syniad sydd y tu ôl i People+ yn raddol dros y blynyddoedd. Trwy ei waith dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, sylwodd Antur Teifi bod cronfa fawr o sgiliau ar gael sydd naill ai'n segur neu heb eu defnyddio i'w llawn botensial. Mae'r sgiliau hyn gan bobl sy'n ddi-waith neu'n cadw ty, a chan ferched a phobl ifanc yn ogystal â phobl a fu'n ddi-waith ers amser hir.

Mae gan lawer o'r bobl hyn sgiliau y byddent yn fodlon eu defnyddio ond bod gwahanol bethau'n eu rhwystro e.e. neb i warchod y plant, dim ffordd o deithio, dim digon o sgiliau, methu defnyddio cyfrifiadur neu anabledd. Gwelwyd bod angen system i chwilio am swyddi posibl. Yn yr un modd, mae llawer o unigolion a busnesau'n chwilio am weithwyr achlysurol, rhan-amser neu dymhorol ond yn cael trafferth i'w cael. Roedd angen system a allai grynhoi'r holl wybodaeth hyn a chanfod swyddi addas yn lleol i bobl a dyna sut y datblygwyd system People+.

Y prif nod yw darparu hyfforddiant, ffordd o wella sgiliau a system gyfrifiadurol y gall pobl ei defnyddio i ganfod swyddi ac felly incwm. Y bwriad yw defnyddio technoleg gyfrifiadurol mewn cymunedau gwledig i chwilio am gyfleoedd gwaith a chodi ymwybyddiaeth o fanteision y dechnoleg newydd i bobl na fyddai'n ei defnyddio fel arall.

Mae People+ wedi'i seilio ar yr egwyddor bod angen dechrau gyda'r hyn sydd gan bobl eisoes ac adeiladu ar hynny. Y gobaith yw galluogi pobl o deuluoedd ffermydd a chymunedau gwledig yn gyffredinol i ganfod sut y gallant gynyddu eu hincwm mewn ffordd sefydlog a chynaliadwy.

Mae Antur Teifi'n dal yn agos at y gymuned ac yn sensitif i'w hanghenion. Trwy sicrhau bod prosiectau'n cael eu darparu'n lleol, mae'r cwmni'n dal i gyfrannu at ddatblygiad cymdeithasol yr ardal.

Cyflwynir y fenter mewn partneriaeth â Meath LEADER, asiantaeth ddatblygu o Iwerddon a sefydlwyd ym 1994. Mae Meath LEADER yn credu'n gryf mewn sicrhau datblygiad gwledig yn Swydd Meath ond, er mwyn parhau a ffynnu, mae'n rhaid i'r asiantaeth ganfod yn union beth yw anghenion ei chwsmeriaid a defnyddio'i hadnoddau i wasanaethu'r cwsmeriaid hynny mewn ffordd gynhyrchiol.
